Second assignment - Five parts of New York

During the lesson, the group couldn’t say what are the five parts of New York. A little bit of general knowledge is necessary to learn or to refresh our memory.

New York is divised in Five parts or in five boroughs :

- Manhattan, the most famous neighbor who has the liberty Island, Wall Street, the ONU office. It’s one of the most important place in the world.

-Bronx, it’s historically the poorest neighbor in New York. It’s the borought where the minorities live in NYC, the black minority and hispanic minority. In the Bronx, the minority are majority.

Brooklyn, it’s a residencial borough. That explains why it’s the borough where the population is the most important.

- Queens,  it’s the biggest borough. It’s a borough with an important industrial concentration. The airport JFK is in this borough.

- Staten Island,  it’s the borough the less integrated borough in New York. It’s the most distant from the downtown.

This picture can explain more that my own explanation. A picture tells more than words.

(1) Manhattan - (2) Brooklyn - (3) Queens

(4) Bronx - (5) Staten Island

In this assignment, we want also to know where is Chinatown, Little Italy, and Harlem.

- Chinatown is in the borough of Manhattan. But the most famous Chinatown  is in San Francisco.

- Little Italy is in the borough of Manhattan.

- Harlem is in the borough of  Manhattan, it’s a neighbor of Manhattan. The closest neighbor from the Bronx.
