Really know me…

Last Tuesday was the time to make an oral presentation of two minutes during the class. My subject was on Tim Burton, the famous director. I have talk a little more that the two minutes who are the maximum. I have speak on Tim Burton, his life and his work 4 minutes.

I - History of a dark man

• A man learn to be dark, with learn to escape at an too luminous world. Tim Burton loves when he was a child to see all scaring movie like Frankenstein.
• He was inspired by the old movie industry, who make dark movies.
• He is a prolific and creative man.
• He goes to Disney Studios to work during the movie “Rox and Rouky”, and “Taram and the Magic Cauldron”.

Tim burton suggest many scenarii but they are too dark to be produce by Disney. The first movie who was produce with the help of Disney was “Vincent”. But “Vincent”, his first animation movie, was too dark and sad to be broadcast.
It was the first brick of his recognizing.

II - Tim Burton’s world

The world of Tim Burton is a black world, a world where we can’t recognize the good and the evil.
His way to shoot a film is inspired by many movie, who have seen when he was young. And he looks like the german movie of the expressionism period : many scenes in “Vincent”, in “Beetlejuice”, or in “The Corpse Bride” was can be in this german movie ( M the damned, Dr. Mabuse, …).

It’s a world where the make-uphave an importance (Mars attack, Edward Scissorshand, …) and the specific and expressive decors. He works on the feeling, the impress and can be exagerate many points ( make-up, decors, …). This exageration permits to have the real idea of the atmosphere of the film.

III - Conclusion

It’s an artist of his world. He has directed many advertisment, and many short movies. He has worked for big production, inbig studios. But that permits to have the recognizion, and to make poectic movie who distort the reality, and show the real defaults of the human soul.

But his work isn’t over. “Alice in Wonderland” is actually in preparation. I think it will be an other point of view as the “Alice in Wonderland” from the Disney Studios.

That’s the movie that I have mentionned many times.
