- Hello and welcome to FxGuideTv and watch an episode we have for you this week. Let around will explore the new PFTrack Version 5 but first step we have a little bit of treat for you. Before the boys left L.A. mike is lucky enough to visit the New Deal Studios. Now if you regurlaly heared FxGuide you will have seen a story on “The Dark Knight” and a podcast with Paul Franklin at … in London.

Now Paul prize the miniatures work down by New Deal and in particular the amazing “bat-mobiles” sequences. Here the guys catch out the two foundators of New Deal Matthew Gratzner and Ian Hunter.

Mike Seymour : So gentlemen thanks to join with us !

We really appreciates your involving here a…, into the a …, kind of the, in a sanctum of the facility. Hum, tell me, a…, since week spend to your last time, and I think just to your last time, what are the come in big up to you ?

Matthew Gratzner : Well, we starting on the month crusasis next project called “SHELTER ISLAND” and numbers of many short effects : they are photography digital works. It’s a great story. It’s another sort of a…, is not a historical piece and the sens is not based only thing one the fictional book writed by Denis … . And, but it’s a period piece with a non a… , again a non-effect film. So you work we doing it’s threw to extend the reality of the live action photography.

M.S. : trific !

And you guys you have a little bit work on “the Dark Knight”, what’s can a popular ?

Ian Hunter : Yes, all movie …, we get to work on a…, a…, “Dark Knight”, that was pretty fun, very intense but a…, really satisfacting to act the work that we all received then the … work finding very well so we were pretty proud of that.

M.S. : Hum, I should face up that actually have a couple of times of this that describe this generation “Godfather - Part Two”, I think it’s a brilliant film, it’s incredibely well done but a film it’s almost gets to the point that no one talks about visual effects because it’s same like a search eyes in camera kind of processand for you that’s really interesting bridge because so much of your work is done in a camera as … . But in the same time, can a… not perhaps recognize the effects within of course refering to that great chasic sequence with the armed truck which you guys did was lucky enough to say some behind the same shot. May be could you describe how you guys bend that, that… amazing kind of sequence ?

I. H. : Well, a…, What we did on a film if you mentionned involve and the army car chase and the particular point in the army car chase were the garbage truck that’s been take … by one of “Joker’s hand men” smatching in a back of a truck and Chris Nolan, director of “Dark Knight” want a get relevant in a nice convenient Batman sort of way, so he want Batman become the opposite direction. The trucks behind the way, and the garbage truck itself was be hit by the batmobile which is some stuntable, jump and pushed back in the tunnel. … come around and continue the chase.

And hope so vain, as you said, we can doing almost everything with physical effects for real on live action, Chris, collabore with the visual eff…, the special effects supervisor in the show, had been attempting to do almost everything you could, for real, there the swatch …don’t.

M.S. : This a great staff.

I. H. : Yeah, incredible staff.

And about this particular point, we realised the reality about the garbage truck is much bigger as the batmobile. The batmobil, propre, is very expensive piece of hardware and a…, and we realised this fault , they couldn’t get it to do what needn’t to do in space … including lower action drive in Chicago with real street, … get it with significant hours. So, …, long or short, if it is jusitificaly very difficult to do it for size and to carried of a…, in a space I add.

M.S. : … I was into LA’s to preparing for this about the fact that the inesur of batmobil who in real life probably a lot less than the truck. Because the truck was so incredibely solid and perhaps the batmobil a…, even … made marked sure about this confrontation.
